+This Privacy Policy explains how the Excommunicado Discord bot ("Bot", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects information when used in Discord servers.
+1. Information We Collect
+The Bot collects and stores the minimum data necessary to provide its moderation features:

+Server Configuration Data: Guild ID, created channels/roles (e.g., xcom-lounge, Excommunicado role), keyword lists, and settings.
+Moderation Records: User IDs of excommunicated ("XCOM") members, reasons for isolation, timestamps, and absolution points.
+Vote Data: Community vote tallies (up/down votes) per user, including voter IDs (temporary, reset weekly).
+Message Forwarding: Copies of messages sent by isolated users in public channels are forwarded to the private staff xcom-lounge channel.
+Command Usage Logs: Basic logs for actions like /xcom, /xcom-release, votes, etc. (optional log channel configured by admins).

+We do not collect:
+
+Direct messages (DMs) sent to the Bot (unless for notifications).
+Voice data.
+Payment information (none processed).
+Sensitive personal data beyond what is required for moderation.

+2. How We Use the Information

+To provide stealth isolation, flood protection, community voting, keyword scoring, and absolution features.
+To maintain persistent state across bot restarts.
+To generate staff logs and user notifications (DMs).
+To improve the Bot (e.g., bug fixes).

+3. Data Storage and Security
+
+Data is stored locally in JSON files on the server/host where the Bot runs (e.g., data/xcom_config.json).
+No centralized database or third-party cloud storage is used by default.
+Access is limited to server administrators and authorized staff via Discord permissions.
+The Bot runs with standard security practices (e.g., non-root Docker user where applicable).

+Important: Data security depends on how you (the server admin) host and secure the Bot instance. We are not responsible for breaches caused by improper hosting, weak server security, or unauthorized access to your Discord server.

+With Discord as needed to operate via their API.

+Moderation records (XCOM status) are kept until manually released or the Bot is removed.

+You (server admins) can clear data by removing the Bot or manually deleting data files.

+Server Admins: You can view, modify, or delete stored data at any time.
+Server Members: If you are under XCOM, you can use /xcom-vow to communicate with staff. Contact your server administrators for data concerns (e.g., removal of records).
+Requests for data export/deletion should go to the server owner first, then to the Bot developer if needed.

+7. Children's Privacy
+The Bot is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe such data has been collected, contact us to remove it.
